Get involved

Find Your Place in the Work.

There is no single way to belong here. Help for an afternoon, attend a meal, lead a project, mentor a young person, stand with a grieving family, sponsor needed supplies, or become a member. Start where you are and choose the kind of service that fits your life.

Not ready to join? Start by showing up. A single project or meeting is enough to begin.

  • For eligible veterans

    Join as a Veteran

You already answered the call. Post 31 is a place to keep serving — on your terms, close to home, alongside people who understand. Bring your experience, your ideas, or simply your presence.

  • No commitment

    Come to a Meeting

Third Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. The hall is at 110½ N. Main St. in Tuscumbia. Upstairs hall with stair lift. All veterans invited. A meal is shared and all veterans are welcome.

  • Help an afternoon or a season

    Volunteer Locally

Pack gift bags, deliver to a veteran in person, help place flags on graves before Memorial Day, support a ceremony, photograph an event, drive a parade vehicle, or lend a professional skill.

  • Businesses, churches, civic groups

    Partner with Post 31

Host a collection point. Sponsor supplies, a meal or a youth team. Bring your employees together for a service project that reaches veterans close to home. Long-standing partners include TVA, the Shoals Elks Lodge and Bicentennial Volunteers.

  • American Legion Baseball

    Support Youth & Baseball

Coach. Score-keep. Sponsor a team. Help with logistics or photography. The Post fields junior, varsity and 19U teams in recent seasons. Check the team pages for the current season.

  • Legion Family

    Ask about Legion Family opportunities

The American Legion Family includes the Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion and the Legion Riders. Local status varies — ask the Post which Family options are currently active or being organized.

  • History and remembrance

    Share a Veteran's Story

If you'd like to preserve a loved one's service story or share a memory connected to Post 31's work — a ceremony, a delivery, a baseball season — the Post would welcome hearing from you.
